THE JAI SHANTI ELVES

Chris Butson

  • Drummer
  • Thai Yoga Massage Therapist

Jai Shanti has brought so much “life” back into me after previously working in the Corporate world for 13 years. I’m happy to be able to use my talent in a place that develops compassion and works to make the community better. I like to spend my free time hiking, camping, playing drums and riding motorcycles.

Christine Peck

  • Yoga Teacher
  • Plant whisperer

I first came to Jai Shanti as a student in January 2009, a quiet, shy woman extremely uncomfortable in my own skin. Through all the classes and experiences I have had there since, I have grown to be a smiling, laughing, dancing, loving, more open-hearted person who is learning to love herself. I am so grateful for the safe, sacred space that is Jai Shanti and all the wonderful teachers there. I enjoy yoga, animals (I’m a pet sitter!) practicing Reiki on myself and animals and people, reading, being in nature and am learning to play a djembe.

Parlee Chambers

  • Photographer
  • Portrait Artist

It was my ‘eye’ that brought me to the heart of Jai Shanti when I was chosen to create a new wave of photography for the Jai Shanti website, posters and whatever else could be infused with the new style, look and feel. The all-day studio shoot gave me such insight into the passion of the yogi and I felt the experience of capturing each person’s ‘peak’ movements was incredibly powerful, not to mention physically challenging! I can’t wait to do it again. My studio, Studio Chambers, is nearby on Edgewood Ave, where I also shoot food for various clients as well as create portraits in acrylic (Pet Portraits website). Come visit!

Christiane French

  • Flowerbox landscaping
  • Yoga Teacher

For me the seasonal planting of Jai Shanti’s flower boxes has been the perfect opportunity to combine my passion for flowers, colors, and playfulness with my love of yoga, movement and the healing spirit of nature. I love having my hands take part in beautifying and supporting the growth and creativity of my beloved neighborhood yoga studio.

Sabiha Mujtaba

  • Furniture maker

My very first Yoga teacher was the fabulous Sandi Angotti in the pre-JSY days at the Clairmont Rd. location. I also met the gentle William there. I felt honored to be asked to build storage units for the props in the new location...those were exciting days of growth and energy. As welcoming and healing a place as JSY has become, I will continue to help William make this as functionally comfortable also.

In the 5+ years I’ve been associated with Jai Shanti, I’ve gone from being a software-company employee to a self-employed yoga teacher, yoga therapist, and part-time website developer, a trajectory I never could have predicted when I first started attending classes at Jai Shanti. William and the others at Jai Shanti have been so welcoming and supportive, it is a treat and an honor to use my teaching and my technical skills in the service of Jai Shanti and the yoga community.
