PARKING

We thank you in advance for remembering that Jai Shanti is an urban yoga studio, and because we are in the city, parking can be challenging for everyone involved.

William, JSY’s owner, strongly encourages you to cycle, walk, run, MARTA, and to carpool to your classes at the studio. We have bike racks to accomodate 20 bikes located in the parking lot behind the building.

Where you CANNOT park

  • No parking in the parking lot behind our building. Most of those parking spaces are reserved for the residents who live above the studio.
  • No parking at My Favorite Mechanic, Salon Red, and San Francisco Coffee, our neighboring businesses on Dekalb Avenue.
  • No parking in front of the driveways of our neighbors (it’s obvious, but worth repeating).

In addition, it is the city’s intention to institute no parking on the WEST side of Brooks Avenue. Signs went up on July 7th, but came down the same day because the city had not observed the legally required community comment period. It remains to be seen whether or not the signs will return and parking will be limited to the east side of the street. Stay tuned.

Where you CAN park

Without being too cheeky, please park anywhere you can find a spot. Here are some suggestions:

  • Glendale Avenue: parallel to Brooks, one block west (toward L5P)
  • Clifton Road: parallel to Brooks, one block east (toward Decatur)
  • McLendon Avenue: parallel to Dekalb Avenue, one block North (toward downtown Candler Park); parking is only on the the south side of the street
  • Page Avenue: Tees into McLendon from the north, by Felinni’s Pizza
  • Mell Avenue: two blocks west of Brooks Avenue
  • Nelms Avenue: two blocks east of Brooks Avenue

Thank you again for being respectful towards our neighbors and mindful of our parking situation!
